BGTT, Mani wants to know why?

The Manicou Report blog has a lovely post about the 11 things that are on the mind of Caribbean blogger, Mani. What’s on his mind? He wants to know why oil and gas companies who aren’t directly selling anything to us in stores, or why utility companies such as the Trinidad and Tobago Electricty Commission (T&TEC) or the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) are placing full page, full colour ads in the papers.

These questions reveal public opinion and speculation, and show that under it all people do view some of these sophisticated advertising campaigns as nothing more than gimmickry. Forget the age-old man-in-the-street survey, read a blog to see what people are saying about you.

Here’s an excerpt:

“Why does British Gas aka BGTT take out full-page colour ads in the newspapers? Just what are they advertising? And to whom are they advertising. On the other hand why do WASA and T&TEC do the same? Sprangalang put it best when he asked “Who is the other electricity company that they does be competing against? I want to know because I want to go with them.”
