New tube in town - Caribbean You tube-ish site

There’s a new tube in town, westindiantube.com.
Allyuh.com calls it the Caribbean You Tube.

According to the “goodlooking”, “unsung geniuses” at WestIndianTube.com (their self-description):

“WestIndianTube is a web space where West Indian (meaning Caribbean) people tune in on the web! It is the first West Indian or Caribbean based online video sharing community. We offer the Caribbean people a place to share their personal and home-made videos. Now, anyone with as much as a cellular phone can publish their own videos online!

WestIndianTube members enjoy thousands of reality videos, uploaded by real people. With a “no holds barred” attitude in place, our users can enjoy a wide range of channels to view, including a comedy channel, a entertainment channel, and much, much more - you’ll never run out of videos to watch!

This website was conceptualized and is maintained by the clever and ever-creative WestIndianTube Team. We’re a small group of unsung geniuses in our early 20s, each of us currently obtaining a university education. It’s true, we are no dummies; just bored, good looking people with no jobs. We hope you enjoy our website, and get you well deserved 5 minutes of fame!”

So far, the content on WestIndianTube.com features videos of people doing their own thing. Some videos show comments, and others simply remix other videos. It will be interesting to see how people continue to use WestIndianTube. Let’s see if it impacts companies.

One thing though, I wonder how You Tube will feel about WestIndianTube.com?

This is a good idea, I hope it catches on and rivals YouTube/Google because Google seem to own everything (including this blog)

It would be good to see some caribbean media moguls (assuming the people who created it are from actually from the caribbean and not americans exploiting the caribbean).

Also it would be good to see caribbean people getting publicity for something other than Rihanna.
